The Lovely Lydia's Blog for July 2026
I marked my forty-eighth birthday a few months ago. I see the years creeping up on me in the mirror, and whilst I still think I look good and my body is still limber and shapely, I can't help wondering what the future holds as I near my half-century mark.
I've shed a few relationships in my polycule, placing an emphasis on quality over quantity. I simply lack the energy to keep up with my yoga and meditation classes, as well as my freelance gigs, whilst still giving adequate attention to my relationships. Therefore, some doors have closed.
Angie and Piper... gone. A mutual decision.
Lacey... still friends, but she needed to focus on other people. To make a long story short, she stood to lose something if word of our relationship got out, as there are many who rely on her and look up to her.
And Shelly, my ex-wife. I've spoken at length here about my ongoing affection for her. We ended our marriage as friends, aware that we had different needs and wanted different things. We still usually fell into bed when we got together. But the truth is that those encounters were preventing her from moving on. She lives several hours away now and is busy running her own medical practice... and she's somewhat serious about a man she likes. I don't wish to stand in her way or hold her back. Happily, the decision was mutual and we remain cordial.
These days I'm thinking more in terms of couples.
Tim and Cathy: My primary couple, the ones I live with and have for many years now. Tim and Cathy were already a couple when I met Cathy, and she was our hinge until I decided to give up my lesbian gold star to Tim. Now we're essentially a throuple, with no dividing lines.
Cathy's spending more time these days with her dance troupe, helping to train younger dancers. She still has her stripper gig and does webcam and escort work, but she's smartly beginning to shift her focus. She knows her window as an exotic dancer is growing smaller by the year and is planning accordingly. She's always had a good head for business.
Tim -- solid bloke. Good businessman himself. Still samples the cuisine at the bar every now and then, but he's slowing down too. But for Cathy, there's no one else but Tim and me. She puts up with a lot from both of us, and I love her for it.
Scott and Mary: About ten years my junior. Happily married. Formerly in the poly scene, but nowadays I'm their only exception. Mary was my dear Gina's partner long ago, and we've never lost touch. With Gina gone, she and Scott have raised Gina's daughter into a fine young lady, blending her into their family with two children of their own.
Mary and I have an annual tradition of spending the week together at my family ranch in Arizona. It's a working ranch and has been in my family for generations. I know nothing about running a ranch, but I can't bring myself to part with it, so I lease it out. Once a year, I head down there to check on things and renew the paperwork. And Mary stays with me in the guest house. It's a yearly ritual I quite look forward to.
She lets me borrow Scott when I'm in the mood to take on more than one of my male partners at a time. Or we get together for an occasional threesome.
Jack and Linda: I'm the hinge for the three of us. Linda's married, and her husband dictates what she can and can't do when the three of us get together. Specifically, Jack isn't allowed to kiss her or penetrate her. Essentially, no intimate contact. But he is allowed to come on her, and he takes full advantage. He fucks me, he comes on her, I lick her clean. The system works for us.
I no longer consider myself a lesbian. It took me a long time to feel comfortable shedding that designation that formed my identity for so many years. I'm fully bisexual, and comfortable saying so now.
Thanks to Linda for the photos. Perhaps there will be more in future posts.
